SMITHFIELD – Johnston County deputies made a quick arrest following a break-in on Eli Olive Road off Brogden Road east of Smithfield. The incident happened just before 6:00am Friday, Sept. 18th.
Deputies allege 38 year-old Benny Lee Bryson of La Grange broke into a home and stolen approximately $400 worth of items including a communion tray, wine glasses, and a Christmas collectible. Authorities recovered about half of the stolen property.
Bryson was arrested Friday and charged with four felonies: breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. Bryson was held on a $35,000 bond at the Johnston County Jail.
Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said additional arrests are expected in the case.
