SELMA – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mourice Nathaniel Wilder, age 35, of Goldsboro on numerous charges following an incident on April 18 at the Interstate 95 Rest Area near Selma.

Deputies said a South Carolina motorist had stopped at the rest area around 3:45pm for a break from traveling. While walking with her minor child, a man later identified as Mourice Wilder reportedly broke into her car.
Officers arrived and while speaking with Wilder he suddenly bolted from the officers and ran across the interstate, narrowly avoiding being struck by highway traffic.
Deputies were able to catch Wilder and take him into custody.
He was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer, two counts of assault on a government official, and trespassing. Bail was set at $15,000.
No items were reported missing from the victim’s car.
Hit by traffic, sounds good to me. Oh well, maybe next time he tries.
