Suspect Sold Mobile Home She Didn’t Own

BENSON – A Johnston County woman is accused of fraud after she allegedly sold a singlewide mobile home she did not own. Authorities said there are two victims in the case, an elderly family member who actually owned the dwelling and a person who unknowingly paid for the home.

Baylesha Rashaira Hedgeman, 22, of T-Bar Road was arrested September 29th by the Johnston County Sheriff’s on two counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

On September 23rd, a 70 year-old woman reported incident. The victim claimed she had purchased the 1973 model home sometime in the past but never had the title switched to her name. Hedgeman allegedly forged the title then sold the home to an unsuspecting buyer who paid her $8,000.

Hedgeman was held on a $25,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
