Suspect Stole Appliances From Construction Site, Clayton Police Say

Clayton Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing a new microwave and dishwasher from the construction site of a new neighborhood off Covered Bridge Road.

39-year-old Christopher Brian Kimsey of Shannondale Drive, Raleigh is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and drug possession.

On August 10th, the foreman on a construction site at the Walton Farms development said he saw a man acting suspiciously and hanging around one of the dumpsters near new homes. The foreman said he saw the man trying to cover up a dishwasher with a piece of wood. He immediately called his supervisor who then called police.

Officers in the area responded and saw a man walking down Covered Bridge Road. Officers said they questioned the man and learned he was carrying burglary tools, a flashlight, and a cutting device with burn marks that matched burn marks on the severed dishwasher cords, which likely were hooked up to power in one of the new homes. Officers said they also reportedly found a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe.

Kimsey was arrested and placed in the Johnston County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
