Update: Suspect Wanted For Intentionally Ramming Car Into SUV Has Been Arrested

UPDATE – July 31st: Smithfield Police have located and arrested Kendrick Hobbs on the assault warrant.

SMITHFIELD – A Smithfield woman said she was assaulted after returning from her neighbors home to borrow laundry detergent.

Smithfield Police said they were called to a home on E. Rose Street around 4:00am Sunday to investigate the assault.  The 38 year-old female victim said she had just returned from a neighbors house when a male acquaintance allegedly began arguing with her.  The victim said she got into her Nissan SUV in an attempt to leave the residence when the man got into a 2011 Chevy Camaro and intentionally rammed her SUV twice, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage.

The male, identified by police as 47 year-old Kendrick Lamon Hobbs of East Street, Smithfield, approached the driver’s side of the SUV to confront the woman again, but realizing she was on the cell phone talking with a 911 dispatcher he fled on foot. Once located, Hobbs will be charged with the assault.
