Suspects Charged With Breaking Into Parents Homes

Two Johnston County men were arrested this week in unrelated cases on charges they stole from their own parents.

On Sunday, Brandon Owen Roberts, 30, of Indian Camp Road, Smithfield allegedly broke into the home of his father and step-mother in the Cleveland community. Deputies said Roberts father was in the hospital when the break-in occurred. Roberts allegedly stole a checkbook containing several checks which he allegedly forged and deposited into a bank account.

Roberts was arrested Monday night on 11 criminal charges including breaking and entering, forgery, and larceny. Bail was set at $155,000.

In an unrelated incident, deputies allege 21 year-old Jonathan Taylor Winter of Applewhite Road, Wendell broke into his mother’s home on Sunday in the Archer Lodge community stealing debit and credit cards.  Winter was arrested Tuesday night and charged with felony breaking and entering and three counts of financial card theft.  He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $25,000 bond.

Booking reports for the two suspects indicate both are unemployed.
