Suspect’s Mom Now Charged With Robbery

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in the robbery of a Cleveland area business earlier this month.

Around 5:00pm on Feb. 11th, the Exxon – Coryea Corner Store at 10515 Cleveland Road, Garner  was allegedly robbed by a man arrested two days later, 33 year-old Steven Blake Reaves of Katherine Drive, an address about a mile away from the business location.

Deputies allege Steven Reaves entered an adjacent Dollar General store and shoplifted merchandise, went next door to the Exxon and shoplifted before approaching a clerk at the checkout counter and demanding money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators have now charged Reaves mother, 63 year-old Gail S. Reaves of the same address.  Both mother and son are charged with common law robbery and felony conspiracy.    Steven Reaves also faces two counts of misdemeanor larceny for the two shoplifting offenses.

Detective Lt. Brian Murphy said Wednesday a third arrest is pending.
