Teen Critically Injured After Being Hit By Car

CLAYTON – A Clayton teenager was critically injured after being struck by a car. It happened around 6:00pm Saturday on Glen Laurel Road at Trailing Oaks Trail near the entrance to East Clayton Community Park.

Police, Fire and EMS responded to a 911 call reporting a car had struck a female pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 16 year-old Jada Miller, was attempting to cross Glen Laurel Road and was struck by a 2012 Ford Mustang driven by Tyler Whitley, 27 of Clayton.   

Miller sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Wake Med in Raleigh.  She is currently in ICU listed in critical condition.   

The accident remains under investigation by Clayton Police and no charges have been filed against the driver.
