A Clayton teen is facing several traffic charges after he reportedly tried to evade a traffic stop near Cleveland High School.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s SAFE Team was conducting increased patrol efforts in the school zone on Polenta Road on Tuesday. A SAFE Team officer said he spotted a speeding SUV traveling at 65mph in a 45mph zone and attempted to pull over the vehicle to issue a ticket.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and turned on another roadway in an attempt to elude arrest. The officer spotted the SUV as it pulled behind a barn and the driver exit the vehicle.
17 year-old Logan McKenzie Tilton of Little Creek Church Road was arrested and charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, speeding and driving on a revoked license. Tilton was taken before a magistrate then released from custody on a $1,500 bond.
Deputies said they seized a BB gun with a laser from the vehicle that had the appearance of a real firearm.
