Teen Linked To Rash Of Car Break-Ins

Same Suspect Led Officers On 135 MPH Chase In July

A Johnston County teenager arrested last week for a residential break-in has now been linked by sheriff’s detectives with seven car break-ins that same day in the Willow Spring community.

On December 5th, deputies responded to a 911 call from a concerned citizen who saw two men run from their neighbors home on Peak Drive off N. Shiloh Road in Cleveland, jump in a car and speed away. A deputy spotted the car on Cleveland Road and conducted a traffic stop.

Stolen property taken from the break-in was allegedly found in the car.  One of the 3 suspects in the car was 17 year-old Kayloe Lemont Middleton Jr., of Blackthorne Court, Clayton.  Detectives executed a search warrant at his home in the Cleveland community and reportedly found items that had been stolen that morning in several car break-ins along Mt. Pleasant Road.

Middleton was 1 of 6 people charged last week for the Peak Drive house break-in. He has now been charged with breaking into 7 cars taking numerous items including a 9mm handgun, rifle, and prescription medication.

In July, 2018, Middleton was arrested by Sampson County authorities after leading deputies on a two county chase that reached speeds of 135mph.
