Two teenagers have been linked to a rash of car thefts in the Grantham community in southern Wayne County this month. Several vehicles were stolen from business parking lots in Grantham between October 5th and October 16th.
On Monday morning, a concerned citizen called 911 after hearing a four wheeler riding in the roadway during the early morning hours, followed by a truck at a high rate of speed.
Wayne County deputies located the ATV abandoned on Grantham School Road and conducted a traffic stop on the truck a short distance away.
Authorities determined the truck had been stolen and a rifle and other items found inside the vehicle had also been stolen.
The two suspects, Isaiah Xavier Shaw, 16, of Grantham School Road, Mt. Olive and Jarius Maderek Brewer, 16, of Grantham School Road, Goldsboro, allegedly confessed to the recent rash of motor vehicle thefts as well as a burglary in the Mar Mac community and damage to a Grantham business.
The teens were charged with multiple offenses including larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny, larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and first degree burglary.
Both Shaw and Brewer were confined in the Wayne County Jail under a $105,000 bond each.
All the stolen vehicles have been recovered.
