Third Suspect In Selma Murder Surrenders

A third suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a driver on Highway 301 in Selma last month is in custody. Around 3:00am today (Thursday), Gilbert Lee King of Selma turned himself in Johnston County deputies at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield.  

King, 25, of Selma was booked into the Johnston County Jail on murder charges.

King joins two other suspects,  Daniel Antonio Surles, 30, who was captured on Feb. 16th in Raleigh and Sammy Gonzalez, 30, who was arrested Feb. 3rd in Smithfield.  

The three men are accused of murdering Michael John Boyle Jr., 47, of Charlotte, on January 7th around 11:00pm, as he drove his pickup on Highway 301 near Poole Drive in Selma. 

Police have not released a motive for the homicide.
