CLAYTON – Minor injuries were reported Sunday evening on NC Highway 42 East at Neuse River Parkway. A teenage driver in a Volkswagen reportedly turned left into the path of a minivan causing the Volkswagen to spin around and collide with a stopped Mercedes.

The minivan caught fire but a passing motorist stopped and extinguished the blaze prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Johnston County EMS checked out the drivers but none were injured seriously enough to require a trip to the hospital.

This was the second accident at the same intersection in two weeks.

Neuse River Parkway was shut down for about 45 minutes during the cleanup and State Highway Patrol investigation.
That intersection is a complete mess because of the construction.
It’s all a complete mess. I wish someone would have the balls to say “enough is enough.” Greed, baby. Greed.
