“Tremendous Turnout” For 2021 Shred Event

18,000 pounds of documents shredded to prevent identity theft

On Saturday, the Town of Smithfield and Johnston County Register of Deeds jointly held a shred and recycle electronics event at Smithfield-Selma High School.

Register of Deeds Craig Olive said he was delighted to join forces with the Town of Smithfield this year. Boy Scout Troop 124, along with staff members from Town of Smithfield and Johnston County Register of Deeds, was on hand to assist in the annual event.

A total of 18,000 pounds of documents was shredded. Mr. Olive said it was a great success as always. “We had a tremendous turnout this year. He hope to have another one in the near future.”

“Special thanks goes out to Boy Scout Troop 124 and to our sponsors: Town Of Smithfield, Johnston County Register of Deeds, The Johnston County Report, 102.3 Country Superstars, Local Government Federal Credit Union and Hinson’s Printing,” Olive stated.
