Two Arrested After Drugs, Shotgun Found In Car, Police Say

Two people were arrested by Smithfield Police during a weekend traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of narcotics with a potential street value in excess of $3,000.

At 2:16am Saturday, police stopped a 2003 Ford for a traffic violation on East Market Street near Interstate 95. During the traffic stop, police said they located 28.9 grams of suspected methamphetamines, 13.5 grams of marijuana, 7 prescription pills, and one dose of suboxone. A sawed-off shotgun was also reportedly found.

The driver, Sean David Jones, 26, of Abednego Road, Kenly was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamines, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.  Jones was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $420,000 bond.

A passenger, Michael Lee Parsons, 26, of Hinnant Street, Micro was charged with possession of methamphetamines.  Parsons was incarcerated under a $10,000 bond.  The Ford passenger car was also impounded by police.
