Two people have been charged with filing false police reports following unrelated incidents.
Smithfield Police arrested Latoya Bianca O’Neal, 27, of the 1700 block of Black Creek Road, Four Oaks on Saturday a short time after she reported her car had been stolen from Components Drive in Smithfield. Police allege O’Neal reported the car stolen a short time after the vehicle was pulled over by a state trooper and an occupant in the car fled on foot. O’Neal was given a $1,000 bond.
Monday night, Johnston County deputies responded to a call where Tammy Lynn Williams, 34, of the 1900 block of Braswell Road, Smithfield allegedly reported she had loaned her car to a friend and he failed to return it as promised. Deputies later determined Williams had sold the car to the individual. She was charged with making a false report. Williams was given a $500 bond.
