Two People Arrested For Shooting Into Homes, Injuring 2

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday two arrests have been made following an October 8, 2019 shooting.  Investigators said two homes at 251 and 268 Byrd Yancy Bass Road had been shot and riddled with bullet holes.  Two male victims at 215 Byrd Yancy Bass Road were struck and received minor injuries.  Both were transported to Sampson Regional Hospital for treatment.  The occupants at 268 Byrd Yancy Bass Road were not injured.

Sampson County sheriff detectives said they were recently able to link the suspects reportedly responsible to the shooting and obtain felony warrants.

Leonard Wilson III, 21, of Warsaw and Isaiah Fennell-Best, 20, of Rosehill, NC were served with felony warrants on Dec. 3 in the Sampson County Detention Center where both were being held on charges stemming from an unrelated kidnapping in Clinton on October 10, 2019.

Wilson and Fennell-Best were both charged with 38 counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and two counts of shooting in an occupied dwelling inflicting serious injury.  Both men were held under a $1 million bond on the charges.

“I am pleased with the hard work that all agencies and officers have provided in the arrest of these individuals,” stated Lt. Marcus Smith. “Our streets are certainly safer having removed these lawless criminals from them.”
