Two People Facing Charges After Heroin Overdoses, JCSO Says

Drug possession charges have been filed against two people who allegedly overdosed on heroin earlier this month and had to be hospitalized.

On November 2nd, Johnston County deputies and first responders were dispatched to a home on Black Pine Lane off Highway 210 near Angier.  Upon arriving, deputies said they found a man and woman unconscious in a barn near the residence.  Suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found.

Both overdose victims were transported by Johnston County EMS to the hospital for treatment.  They were later released.

On Monday, both suspects were formally charged with a single felony count of possession of heroin.

Ashlee Taylor Carter, 24, of the 6400 block of Highway 42 W, Garner and William Joseph Higgins, 29, of Black Pine Lane, Angier were booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $5,000 bond each.
