UPDATE SATURDAY 8:45PM – The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office says 14 year-old Kealy Merritt was located tonight. She is in the process of being transported back to her parents by Harnett County deputies. No additional details were immediately released, including where she was found.
DUNN – Friday night, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office released new information in their search for missing Kealy Merritt.
The 14 year-old girl left her home at 771 Ammons Road near Dunn on December 20, 2020. She left on her black mountain bike with pink forks. The bike was found abandoned December 24, 2020 in the woodline next to Interstate 95 south of Exit 70.
Detectives said they have located an image from the afternoon of December 20th showing Kealy riding her bike south along an access road which is parallel to I-95 near Exit 70. Investigators believe it is likely that drivers or others in the area would have noticed Kealy since it is a busy area for anyone to ride a bike, especially a child.
Sheriff’s detectives would like to speak with any witnesses to assist in creating a timeline of exactly when and where Kealy was last seen. Kealy takes medication and does not have it with her.
The FBI is also assisting with the investigation and has released a flyer with information about the missing teen.
If you have information to locate Kealy, call the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office at 910-893-9111.
