BENSON – The Town of Benson, Benson Parks & Recreation, and the newly formed Benson’s Veterans Helping Veterans will hold the annual Benson Veterans Day Event on Saturday, November 4th.
A 5K Run starts at 9:00am in front of TNT Fitness at 103 W. Parrish Drive. The check-in begins at 7:30am at the same location. The Awards Ceremony will be held at 10:30am at the Fainting Goat Brewery at 212 E. Main Street. You can register online at this link.
The Veterans Day Celebration presented by Benson’s Veterans Helping Veterans begins with a parade down Main Street at 11:00am followed by a program in the Singing Grove, at 400 E. Main Street, beginning at 11:45am. The parade will feature the Dunn Sudan Clowns, the American Legion Riders, and other local civic organizations and businesses.
A Golf Cart Decorating Contest will also be held with all participants being featured in this year’s Veterans Day parade down Main Street. Click here for a Golf Cart Contest Entry Form.
At 12:00 Noon, Lee’s Fresh Market will be sponsoring a Whole-Hog Barbecue Cookoff. The Grove will be packed with delicious barbecue from all the participants and — the best part — you can try them all. The cookoff will also double as lunchtime with plates for $10. Plates will be free for veterans.
In addition, there will be a Kid’s Zone in the Singing Grove for the day featuring inflatables and a Full Throttle Car and Motorcycle Show following the parade.
