A Clayton man was seriously injured after someone tossed acid on him during an altercation.
Authorities are being hampered in their investigation because the victim has refused to tell detectives the exact location where the incident occurred.
Around 1:40am Monday, Johnston County deputies responded to Johnston Medical Center to speak with the 25 year-old victim. The man told officers he was attending a party Sunday night at Bell Hope Mobile Home Park #1 on Swift Creek Road near Smithfield when he got into an altercation with an unknown person. The individual walked away to the kitchen area of the home. When he returned a short time later, the suspect allegedly tossed an acid-type chemical onto the victim causing numerous burns to his skin.
The incident remains under investigation.
