Victim Seriously Injured In Domestic Assault, Police Say

SMITHFIELD – A Smithfield woman sustained serious injuries after being assaulted during a domestic-related incident.  On Monday, Smithfield Police responded to Johnston Medical Center after the 29 year-old female victim arrived at the emergency department for medical treatment.

According to police, the victim and her boyfriend were engaged in a verbal argument when he allegedly retrieved a pipe and began striking the woman about her head and body.  The victim sustained a serious laceration to her head during the attack.

Officers obtained a warrant for the suspect and arrested 30 year-old William Vaughan Olive (aka William Vaughn Olive) of E. Crestview Drive, Smithfield around 2:30am Tuesday.  Olive was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
