SMITHFIELD – Since 2017, March 29 has been designated as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. This is a time to pay special tribute to the 9 million Americans who served during the Vietnam War era, to the 58,000 names memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and to those who never received the recognition they deserved when they returned to the United States from war.
In honor of National Vietnam Veterans Day, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Johnston County Veterans Council will hold a special ceremony outside of the Johnston County Courthouse on Wednesday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. All veterans are encouraged to attend, especially those that served in the Vietnam War.
