A Smithfield police officer was on routine patrol Friday night in the parking lot of the Village Motor Lodge on Mallard Road when he ran the license plate of a car parked nearby. The license plate information came back to a vehicle whose owner had an outstanding arrest warrant for probation violation.
The officer reportedly found the owner of the car in a motel room along with a second wanted person. After being given consent to search the room police allegedly found 10.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 2 grams of marijuana inside.
Amanda Marie Strickland, 31, of Heath Road, Four Oaks and Eddie Houston Jackson Jr., 46, of Lee Road, Dunn were both wanted on outstanding probation violation warrants.
Both were also charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamines, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Strickland was held in the Johnston County Jail under a $130,000 bond. Jackson was jailed under a $140,000 bond.
