SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police captured a wanted person after responding to a shoplifting call. Police were dispatched to the Speedway at 2103 S. Brightleaf Boulevard at 9:41am Wednesday, July 27.
An employee told police a man entered the business and left without paying for several candy bars valued at $9.68. Responding officers located the shoplifting suspect nearby on Kay Drive.
Police said a routine background check on Antoyo D. Holmes, age 31, of Selma revealed he was wanted by Selma Police on two felony warrants for breaking and entering, and larceny.
Smithfield Police charged Holmes with misdemeanor larceny and felonious habitual larceny. He was also served with the Selma Police warrants. Holmes was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond.
