GOLDSBORO – Wayne County Solid Waste Director Tim Rogers will be retiring only July 31. Tim started with Wayne County Solid Waste in 1984 and held numerous positions in the department before becoming director. As the director, Tim oversees the Wayne County Landfill as well as all recycling and convenience centers.
“After 37 years in one place, it’s hard to accept that it is time to step away,” said Tim. “I have the best group of employees a manager could ask for. Their hard work every day makes coming to work a joy. I am very proud of my staff and will miss them all.”
County Manager Craig Honeycutt added, “We appreciate Tim’s contributions to the solid waste department and his service to the residents of Wayne County. While we will miss his leadership, we know he will enjoy his well-deserved retirement.”
Randy Rogers, assistant director, has been named interim director after Tim’s retirement until a replacement is hired. Randy has been with Wayne County Solid Waste for 30 years and also serves the community as the Arrington Volunteer Fire Department chief.
“We have seen many improvements in solid waste over the past few decades. From updated convenience centers, new technologies, and additional regulations,” said Randy. “We look forward to continuing our commitment to safety and efficiency to provide the best service to the residents of Wayne County.”
