Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Johnston County

1 – 3 Inches Of Snow Accumulation Forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Johnston and Harnett counties from 1:00am Sunday until 7:00pm Monday.

A significant winter storm is forecast to impact much of Central North Carolina Saturday night through Monday.

A developing winter storm will spread heavy snow and ice across central North Carolina Saturday night and Sunday. Some wintry precipitation may linger Sunday night into Monday prolonging the storm.

WHAT:  Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected Saturday night and Sunday morning. A transition to rain is expected late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon.

WHERE: Johnston and Harnett Counties.

WHEN: From 1 AM Sunday to 7 PM EST Monday.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Travel could be dangerous late Saturday night and Sunday. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Temperatures will be near freezing Saturday night and Sunday morning, rising into the mid 30s late Sunday and Sunday night.
