Woman Accused Of Cashing Counterfeit Money Orders At SECU

A Smithfield woman has been arrested following an incident on March 2nd at the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) on Annette Drive near Benson.  On that day, SECU officials reported Paula Lynn Aldighieri, 46, of Jesse Drive, Smithfield went to the SECU and allegedly cashed three counterfeit postal money orders for a total of $2,550.

The SECU later learned the money orders were fictitious and notified the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies investigated the incident and obtained warrants for Aldighieri’s arrest on June 2nd.  On June 24th she was located and charged with possession of a counterfeit instrument/check and obtaining property by false pretenses.

Aldighieri was given a $10,000 secured bond on the two felony offenses.
