A 33 year-old woman was arrested and jailed Monday on a $55,000 bond after she was stopped by an officer near Benson.
A Johnston County Sheriff SAFE Team deputy stopped a Honda at 1:40pm on Highway 242 about 4 miles south of Benson. During the traffic stop the driver would only partially rolled down the window to speak with the officer.
The driver identified as Raven Denece Whaley of Critcher Farm Lane, Benson was reportedly acting nervous and refused to consent to a voluntarily search of her car, allegedly telling the deputy to get a warrant. A Sheriff’s K-9 was brought to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. During a search, a glass meth pipe and 4 prescription pills were reportedly found.
Whaley was taken into custody and after arriving at the Johnston County Jail, two bags of suspected methamphetamine were located in her hand. A search by female jailors reportedly revealed 3 additional bags of suspected meth in a body cavity.
Whaley, who was on probation for a meth charge in Harnett County, was arrested on three felony and one misdemeanor offenses including possession of methamphetamines, and possession of a schedule 3 controlled substance.
