A Johnston County woman who said her SUV was stolen from a busy convenience store parking lot is now facing charges.
On January 9th, deputies responded to D.R. Wells Store on Cleveland Road after 26 year-old Antoinette Renee Price of Clayton reported her Chevy Trailblazer had been stolen. Price claimed she drove to the store to get milk for her child. She claimed she left the keys in the ignition while she went into the store. When she came outside she claimed her SUV had been stolen.
Price waited until she returned to her home on Matthews Road to report the theft.
Following an investigation, deputies said they determined the SUV had been wrecked and abandoned on Cornwallis Road near Josephine Road prior to Price claiming the SUV had been stolen.
Price was charged with filing a false report of a motor vehicle theft. She was released on a $2,500 bond pending a court appearance on the misdemeanor offense
