Wrong Way Driver Causes Head On Collision

CLAYTON – A wrong way driver collided with an oncoming pickup truck on NC 42 East, in front of the Flower’s Plantation entrance, around 10:30pm Friday night.

The driver of a white BMW was transported to Wake Medical Center.

Witnesses said the pickup truck swerved to avoid the collision but the wrong way driver also swerved in the same direction, directly into the path of the truck resulting in the head on collision.

The pickup driver was uninjured, however, all of his tools and hundreds of nails were left scattered across the roadway following the crash.

NC 42 East was shut down for several hours as the State Highway Patrol investigated and the scene was cleared.

Charges are pending.
