A convenience store clerk was shot during a holdup. The search is now underway for three suspects.
It happened around 11 o’clock Monday night as the clerk was in the process of closing the Handy Mart on US 13 North of Goldsboro and locking up the business.
Three black male suspects forced the clerk at gunpoint to reenter the store. While still holding a gun to the victim, he was forced to go behind the counter and remove lottery tickets and tobacco products. The clerk attempted to escape but while trying to flee was shot.
The condition of the store clerk was not released.
