Two people were injured, one seriously, after being mauled by a pit bull dog Thursday afternoon at the Traveler’s Inn motel.
Four Oaks Police were called to the motel, at the intersection of I-95 and US701, around 3:20pm following a report of the dog actively attacking a person. Four Oaks Police Chief S.A. Anderson said he arrived on the scene and found the dog “latched” onto a person’s arm. Chief Anderson attempted to pull the dog off the victim but when he could not, he shot and killed the animal.
A woman was seriously injured. A man was also attacked, but his injuries were not as serious. Both were transported to the hospital by Johnston County EMS.
There were conflicting reports as to who owned the dog.
