ARCHER LODGE – Johnston County will borrow $1,701,000 to fund construction of a new 500,000 gallon water tank in Archer Lodge. Commissioners unanimously agreed to borrow the money at the request of Chandra Farmer, Director of Johnston County Public Utilities during a recent board meeting.
Farmer said the water tank will provide additional storage in the rapidly growing area as demand for water continues to increase. The exact location of the water tank has not been finalized. Farmer said officials are still looking at several potential sites.
The 20 year loan with a 1.42 percent interest rate is from the State Water Infrastructure Fund.
