1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured In Highway 210 Wreck

Update: The NC Highway Patrol has identified the victim killed in the crash as 29 year-old Kevin Ryan Gralton of Fuquay Varina.  Troopers said Gralton was a right front passenger in a 2001 Lexus driven by Jessica Nicole Tutt, 35, of Willow Spring.  Officials said Tutt was traveling 65 MPH in a 55 MPH zone at the time of the accident.  Alcohol was not a factor.

ANGIER – The NC Highway Patrol says one person was killed and another seriously injured in a single vehicle car crash Tuesday night on Highway 210 near Chisenhall Road in western Johnston County near the Harnett County line.

Around 9:45pm a car traveling eastbound on Highway 210 ran off the roadway and while overturning struck a power pole. Both occupants in the car were ejected.

The power pole broke and fell on the male victim. He died as a result of his injuries.  A female victim was thrown more than 100 feet from the wreckage. She was badly injured and rushed to the hospital.

Troopers are still trying to determine who was driving.  Officials said both occupants were not wearing seat belts.

The name of the male victim was not immediately released but authorities said he was from the Fuquay Varina area. The female victim was a resident of Willow Springs.   Her name was also not immediately released. At last report she was in serious condition at Wake Medical Center.

Duke Energy responded and replaced the broken power pole.  The roadway was reopened shortly after midnight.
