One person was killed, two others injured in a weekend crash near Four Oaks.
Troopers said the crash happened around 11:00pm Saturday in the 500 block of Juniper Church Road just outside the Four Oaks city limits.
A black 1996 GMC SUV was traveling above the posted speed limit when it traveled left of center, overcorrected, then traveled onto the right shoulder of the rural roadway and overturned. All three occupants were not wearing seat belts and were ejected. A front seat passenger, Paul Woodall, 30, of the 4500 block of Hockaday Road, Four Oaks was killed.
The driver, Andy Pilkington, 23 of Sandy Road, Four Oaks, and a back seat passenger, Timothy Toole Jr., 25, of Adam Road, Four Oaks, were taken to Wake Med. Both were listed in critical condition.
The NC Highway Patrol said both speed and alcohol were contributing factors. Troopers plan to consult with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office as to possible charges.
