WENDELL – One person was killed and two others injured in a two vehicle traffic accident. The wreck was reported around 7:15pm Sunday on Lake Wendell Road, off Buffalo Road, not far from the Wake County line.
The State Highway Patrol said the driver of a Ford Mustang crossed the centerline and collided with a minivan. The driver of the Mustang died at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
A mother and daughter in the minivan were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities believe the Mustang was speeding when the collision occurred.
The name of the victim was not immediately released, however family members of the deceased arrived at the scene minutes after the accident was reported.
Lake Wendell Road was closed for nearly three hours.
Penalties for using a handheld device while driving need to be the same as DUI.
Just curious, where in this article did it say the person was using handheld device? I see speeding might have been the cause of this accident. JMO
