1 Person, Dog Rescued From Burning Home

It took fire crews about 30 minutes to contain a house fire in the Wilson’s Mills city limits this morning (Monday).

The fire was reported at 2:45am at 45 Powell Street.  It was contained at 3:15am.

Wilson’s Mills, Smithfield, Selma and Clayton fire crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the side and roof of the home.  Three people were in the home when the flames broke out.  One person was injured as a result of the fire. One had to be pulled from the home by a family member.

A small dog was found by firefighters hiding under a bed in the home after the flames were extinguished. The animal was brought outside to Johnston County EMS paramedics who provided oxygen to the small dog.

Adam Stanley, Johnston County Fire Marshal, said the fire was ruled as an accident due to smoking in bed.  Photos courtesy JoCoFire.com
