1 Person Killed During Convenience Store Robbery

BENSON – One person was killed during an early morning convenience store robbery. It happened around 1:30am today (Thursday) at the Scotchman at 12320 Highway 210, Benson, near the I-40 intersection.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, two suspects entered the business and robbed the clerk of undisclosed items.  Authorities said 3 people were inside the Scotchman during the robbery.  One of the individuals inside the store, an adult male, was shot and killed during the holdup. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.


No additional details have been released but investigators said more details will be released when possible.

On Tuesday night around 7:24pm, the Reedy Creek Gas & Grocery at 9891 Highway 210, Four Oaks was robbed and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.  No injuries were reported in Tuesday’s holdup. Authorities have not said if the two robberies may be connected.
