Princeton Police are investigating a fatal two car accident. Police Chief T. Sutton said officers responded to the collision around 8:00am today (Tuesday) at the intersection of Highway 70 and Old Rock Quarry Road.
According to an initial investigation, a driver was traveling southbound on Old Rock Quarry Road and pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 70. The car was struck in the driver’s side and after impact traveled 231 feet across the eastbound lanes and into a ditch before coming to rest. The driver of the vehicle that failed to yield died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The operator of the second vehicle sustained non-life threatening arm and leg injuries.
Chief Sutton said the name of the person who died is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
On March 4th, two people died in a crash on Highway 70 at Dr. Donnie H. Jones Boulevard in Princeton. That accident was also caused by a vehicle that failed to yield.
