BENSON – Ten fire departments from Johnston and Harnett counties battled a large fire Wednesday morning. The blaze was reported around 1:00am in the 4000 block of Benson-Hardee Road.
Fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire at a 40 by 40 foot building with shelters off both sides. The building was used by the property owner to build and refurbish pallets.
Due to the size of the fire, a tanker task force of water tankers from additional fire departments was also dispatched to shuttle water to to the scene. Altogether, ten fire departments from two counties responded.

No one was in the building at the time the fire was reported.
Johnston County Fire Marshal Adam Stanley said the fire is currently under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
