For Julian Epps of Roxboro, a $100,000 Mega Bucks win means he can finally get the riding lawn mower he’s always wanted.
“I’m going to get a zero-turn mower,” Epps said. “I don’t even know if it’s big enough for the place I’m at, but it will be the talk of the community.”
Epps stopped by the Oxford Pitt Stop on Outer Loop Road in Oxford on his way home from a doctor’s appointment and got a scratch-off ticket.
“I started hollerin and pounding the counter,” Epps said after he realized he won.
He claimed his prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $69,502.
The $5 game launched in August 2015. One top prize of $100,000 remains.
