WENDELL – Deputies are investigating the theft of equipment valued at $100,000. On July 12, a representative with Asplundh Tree Company in Garner reported a Vermeer skid steer and Butler flat bed trailer had been stolen from the 7100 block of Covered Bridge Road, Wendell, in northern Johnston County. The skid steer was valued at $80,000 and the trailer $20,000.
The equipment had been parked July 5, behind a locked gate, on property owned by Duke Energy. When an Asplundh employee returned July 12 the items were gone.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft.
