Smithfield Police are investigating an incident involving an underage driver. Sunday night, a pickup truck ran down an embankment at the I-95 southbound exit at US 70 in Smithfield and became stuck in the mud.
Police did not witness who was driving but are looking into allegations an 11 year-old took the truck without permission and went on a brief joyride.
The truck did not sustain any damage. The juvenile was turned over to the custody of his mother.
