A rash of car break-ins has been reported at two subdivisions in the Flowers Plantation community near Clayton.
The break-ins occurred early Tuesday morning in the Peachtree and Pineville East subdivisions near the Buffalo Road / NC 42 intersection.
A total of 13 vehicles were entered and valuables removed from the vehicles, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Among the items taken were jewelry, wallets, credit cards, cash, gift cards, headphones, and a 9mm handgun.
Detective Lt. Brian Murphy said all the vehicles had been left unlocked. Lt. Murphy said it was important for individuals to keep their car doors locked even when parked at your own home.
Authorities are reviewing video surveillance footage from a home the captured one of the break-ins in hopes of identifying the suspects.
