The Johnston County Planning Department approved 1,360 new residential building lots during the first 8 months of this year.
According to a report presented by newly hired Planning Director Braston Newton to County Commissioners, 1,360 building lots were approved from Jan. 1 – Aug. 31, up from 1,000 lots approved during the first eight months of 2017.
The 1,360 building lots represent 128 subdivisions approved this year. 29 of those are classified as major subdivisions. That is up slightly from 27 major subdivisions approved during the same time period last year.
Plans are currently being considered for three more subdivisions totaling 52 lots.
