15 Year-Old Killed In Wayne County Crash

Update 1:10pm – Jakoree Donell Harper has been charged by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was held under a $49,999.01 secured bond at the Wayne County Detention Center. The Goldsboro Police Department continues to investigate the motor vehicle accident.

GOLDSBORO – Multiple agencies are investigating a fatal wreck on US Highway 70 in Wayne County. Around 8:00pm Monday, a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy was conducted a business check at a car dealership in LaGrange and spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

The deputy turned around to investigate the vehicle and notified Goldsboro Police of a car traveling at a high rate of speed towards their jurisdiction on US 70.

While traveling westbound in the 4200 block of US 70 East, the vehicle ran off roadway to the right, struck a culvert, went airborne, collided with a light pole, and overturning in a parking lot. Two people in the speeding vehicle were both ejected during the crash.

A 15 year-old male juvenile from Goldsboro was killed. His name was not released. An 18 year-old occupant, Jakoree Donell Harper of Goldsboro was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officer have not been able to determine who was driving the vehicle, which was later determined to have been stolen from the auto dealership.

Goldsboro Police, with the assistance of the State Highway Patrol, are investigating the fatal crash. The stolen vehicle incident is being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
