15 Years Later, Search For Murder Suspect Continues

SMITHFIELD – It was 15 years ago tonight (Monday), a 30 year-old man was shot and killed in the front yard of a home on South Vermont Street in Smithfield. Police quickly identified the suspect in the case but he has never been apprehended.

Just before midnight on November 9, 2005, police detectives said Pablo Hernandez Silverio gunned down Jasiel Urgelldantory of Clayton with a 12-gauge shotgun. Police said Silverio had previously dated a woman who lived at the residence, and was the father of her child. At the time of the shooting, Urgelldantory was her new boyfriend.

After fatally shooting the victim, Silverio fled with the child, but the baby was later found safe with other relatives in the area. Police believe Pablo Silverio fled to Mexico shortly after the homicide. He would now be 48 years of age.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pablo Hernandez Silverio is asked to contact the Smithfield Police Tip Line at 919-989-8835. Callers may remain anonymous.
