The Town of Benson has reported a 1,500 gallon sewage spill at their Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Officials said the spill occurred on Monday inside the plant.
The affected area was confined to Town of Benson property. The overflow was contained and remediated and did not reach any surface waters.
The NC Division of Water Resources has been notified of the event.
