Sixteen Johnston County School buses will have to be repaired after someone broke into the buses and vandalized them.
The buses were parked for the summer in a field next to West Smithfield Elementary School on Galilee Road at Highway 210. Between Thursday afternoon and Monday morning someone broke into the 16 buses and caused an estimated $6,300 in damages. One bus sustained about $2,000 in damages.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Monday and is now investigating the bus break-ins. Anyone with information about the incident, including anyone who saw suspicious activity around the school between June 16 and June 20 is asked to contact the detectives at 919-989-5000.
